Guilford College Awards
Board of Visitors Scholarship
The Board of Visitors scholarship is a grant for students with a high-level of demonstrated financial need and a strong academic profile. Priority is given to good students with need on Guilford faculty-led programs who will have to fly some distance to meet the group at the common departure point. The awarded amount (normally $700) can be received as either a credit to each winner’s Guilford financial aid profile, resulting in a reduced charge for the semester, or as a check to defray travel costs that are documented by a tentative flight itinerary that shows costs which should accompany the initial application. For more information, contact Daniel Diaz in the Study Abroad Office: email@example.com or 336-316-2015.
Environmental Studies Distinguished Scholar Award
Guilford College's Environmental Studies program gives this merit-based award to students seeking to study abroad or complete an internship during either the traditional semesters or the summer. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to the subject in a cross-cultural setting. Priority is given to Environmental Studies majors seeking to study in New Zealand through Eco-Quest, Thailand with the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI), or on one of the environmental programs offered by SFS. For information and applications, see www2.guilford.edu/envst.
These grants are modest amounts of money that discount a January term program up to $300. Awards are competitive, limited and based on demonstrated need. Complete the JANUARY TERM GRANT APPLICATION FORM, on or before the January term application deadline.

Mary and Carroll Feagins Study Abroad Scholarship Fund
David ’70 and Tanya ’71 Feagins and friends of the college endowed the Mary and Carroll Feagins Study Abroad Scholarship Fund in memory of David’s parents, both of whom were faculty members at Guilford. Mary and Carroll Feagins were heavily involved in Guilford study abroad and established our first program in Munich, Germany. However, the idea for this scholarship goes back even further to an anonymous donor who served as Mary's benefactor during her own college years and gave her the money to travel to Munich and study abroad for a year. The only requirement was that she “pay it forward” somehow. This scholarship does just that.
Victor and Rodgeryn Flow Study Abroad Scholarship Fund
Vic Flow, the founder and former chairman of the board of Flow Motors, Inc. in Winston-Salem, is a Greensboro native, United States Army veteran, former Guilford student, and has served as the college trustees Chairman and a Board of Visitors member. He is married to Roddy and together they have 3 children. Philanthropists at heart, Vic and Roddy are very involved in the community at large and dear friends of Guilford College. In 2011, they gave a generous donation to specifically fund the study abroad program, which is used to financially assist Guilford students each year to study in various locations around the globe.
