Vision and Mission
Vision
The Guilford College Office of Global and Off-Campus Initiatives (GOCI) prepares students to engage across diverse international communities of interconnected and interrelated people as empathetic global citizens who are capable of making valuable intercultural contributions to the world.
Mission Statement
Guilford College off-campus programs develop cultural, academic, professional, and interpersonal knowledge about our diverse international world. Through carefully designed off-campus experiences, students build global awareness and hone critical intercultural sensitivity skills by engaging with, and learning from, new worldviews and perspectives. Studying and living away and abroad promotes a tolerance for ambiguous circumstances and the problem-solving skills necessary to function adaptively amid uncertainty; which are essential for upholding values of social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Classes and experiences in the host culture ultimately develop the skills to interact and communicate across cultural differences with a respect for new ways of living, learning, working, and problem solving.
