Environmental Studies Distinguished Scholar Award

Guilford College's Environmental Studies program gives this merit-based award to students seeking to study off-campus or complete an internship during either the traditional semesters or the summer. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to the subject in a cross-cultural setting. Priority is given to Environmental Studies majors seeking to study in New Zealand through Eco-Quest, Thailand with the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI), or on one of the environmental programs offered by SFS.

Mary and Carroll Feagins Study Abroad Scholarship Fund

David ’70 and Tanya ’71 Feagins and friends of the college endowed the Mary and Carroll Feagins Study Abroad Scholarship Fund in memory of David’s parents, both of whom were faculty members at Guilford. Mary and Carroll Feagins were heavily involved in Guilford study abroad and established our first program in Munich, Germany. However, the idea for this scholarship goes back even further to an anonymous donor who served as Mary's benefactor during her own college years and gave her the money to travel to Munich and study abroad for a year. The only requirement was that she “pay it forward” somehow. This scholarship does just that.

All study away and abroad applicants are considered for this scholarship. Funds are distributed based on financial need.

Victor and Rodgeryn Flow Study Abroad Scholarship Fund

Vic Flow, the founder and former chairman of the board of Flow Motors, Inc. in Winston-Salem, is a Greensboro native, United States Army veteran, former Guilford student, and has served as the college trustees Chairman and a Board of Visitors member.  He is married to Roddy and together they have 3 children.  Philanthropists at heart, Vic and Roddy are very involved in the community at large and dear friends of Guilford College.  In 2011, they gave a generous donation to specifically fund the study abroad program, which is used to financially assist Guilford students each year to study in various locations around the globe.

All study away and abroad applicants are considered for this scholarship. Funds are distributed based on financial need.
